This is Postcocious, a newsletter about creativity, technology, and life. Welcome!
I am Anu Kirk. I am a product manager and designer, musician, and writer. I currently work for Osso VR, a company that uses virtual reality to train surgeons.
I have been blogging regularly for years on the Blogger platform. Substack has a different audience, model, and reach. I will be trying it out for a while to see how it goes. I hope to tie this to a more regular update cadence.
In addition to writing, I also co-host the Music, Mindfulness, and Madness podcast. The show is a series of long, digressive conversations I have with Dee Madden and Michael Hateley. Check it out wherever you get your podcasts.

I am a former professional musician who continues to write and record. My work is up on all the major subscription services plus YouTube, or you can buy it at Bandcamp. Some samples follow.

Pantemonium! (2019), our magnum opus:
End.Game. (2019), a synthwave-influenced collaboration with U-235, as "Luscious-235”:

As a solo artist and under my own name, I create darker, more varied, and concept-based records.
Paper Life (2020) is my most recent solo album, a simultaneously dark and poppy “pandemic midlife crisis depression” record that pays homage to 90s grunge and electronica.
Rêvenir
Cure For Loneliness (2022) is a modern gothic rock collaboration with Christy Novack.
Captain Kirk
My ambient music alias, Captain Kirk makes ethnic music from other worlds.
Here is the lead-off track, "The Mystery of the Pyramids":

A selection of some of my work for other people, mostly from the 1990s. This playlist accompanies a series of pieces I wrote about some of my L.A. History:
